Many gamers will have heard of games like Rec Room and VR Chat, but not so many the game in development for PCVR, PSVR 2 and Meta Quest devices (with crossplay potentially) RIFF XR. The game comes from developer Revog Games and is available now as a FREE download via Steam Early Access. We think for now the defacto VR social space for PC VR is VR Chat, but RIFF XR shows much potential.

With a bit of a marketing push to garner more players and user generated content, RIFF XR could rival or surpass the other social VR experiences we mentioned. We really enjoyed the cyberpunk aesthetic and think the inclusion of AI chat and user created AI artwork you can prompt is pretty neat alongside all the wandering NPCs. All it really needs now is an active community to play with, and content creators to add new things. That said, as of now you can fight with bots in various locales, and enter numerous locations to soak up the atmosphere alone or as a shared experience. It seems like the perfect hang-out place for VR enthusiasts. Take a look at our two preview videos. One where we narrate and the other with just the game audio.
