Wii U owners suffering huge firmware update

Right off the bat there’s a 5 GB mandatory firmware update for the all new swanky Wii U console from Nintendo which officially releases on the 20th in the UK. Wii U owners are prompted to update their online connected machines, except the 5 GB download is taking an age for some. Whilst one might call the impatience card and suggest taking a walk, but let’s be fair. When one buys a new games machine, there’s eager anticipation to start enjoying it right away having braved the elements and other shoppers no doubt, to get one. Having to sit through hours of an update screen is far from what’s expected. Unfortunately, during the update, the gamepad also can’t be used. A shame, and a missed opportunity there perhaps.
