Omega Force under the watchful gaze of Tecmo Koei have churned out many games over the years most notably the Dynasty Warriors franchise which believe it or not has legions of fans the world over. There’s so many games in the series and spin-offs that it’s easy to lose track and faith in them having regurgitated the same stuff over and over. Recently they adopted a more tactical approach with Bladestorm Nightmare but this hasn’t been as well received. However, cue Toukiden Kiwami coming in the wake of Toukiden: The Age of Demons which released in 2013 on the Playstation Vita and PSP. Toukiden Kiwami is an extension of the original release and encompasses more story and additional characters as well as being playable for the first time on the Playstation 4.
Having missed out of the handheld versions and jumping in with Kiwami we have to state after extended hours of play that this is one of Omega Force’s best games they have produced. It’s a far cry from the Dynasty Warriors games and has more in common with Capcom’s rather excellent Dragon’s Dogma. Take a look at our Toukiden Gameplay preview video which shows off the basics before thinking very carefully about taking the plunge and buying the game (especially if you’re a fan of the aforementioned Dragon’s Dogma). It comes in at a relatively low price and is heaps of fun to play. We’ll certainly hold our thoughts until we issue a full review in due course, but for now this does come recommended.
