Destiny ViDoc – Pathways Out of Darkness

Bungie shows off more from its new game Destiny which is looking pretty spectacular, although it’s unclear as to what platforms the game will be available on – boxart has been shown thus far for Xbox 360 and should also be on PS3. Whether there will be a version for next gen consoles is largely unclear. The game will require an always online internet connection and will not be subscription based although micro-transaction look likely.

Not sure what to make of this, not quite what I expected. It sounds as f they’re taking their learning from a first-person shooter and incorporating it into a next-gen MMO type game, like World of Warcraft or something, but an FPS, and no subscription fee – yeah, with Activision as the publisher, we’ll have to see how that pans out.

I am perplexed though as to why they – Bungie, would commit themselves to a project for 10 gruelling years. They’ve come out from under Microsoft’s wings and away from their 10 year Halo saga, and jumped right back into another lengthy project with another mass corporation at the helm.
