VR-Kanojo (2025) New Trailer Looks like a massive downgrade from 2017 Original

The VR Girlfriend experience from Illumination (a subsidiary of the now defunct Illusionsoft) or VR-Kanojo has a new trailer, but things are a little amiss. The character model and locations look way LESS detailed than the original game which released in Feb 2017. It’s a step backwards for sure, but what does look improved are the animations and things like naturally moving hair. The game releases on April 24th on PC via Steam but the jury’s out on whether this will be better than the original release. The video comments seem to have many people commenting on the obvious visual downgrade.

The reason for this is unclear, but it might just be because they are working on a Quest standalone version, or they just want the game to run on the lowest performing VR enabled PCs. Hopefully, the video is showing the game at a lower quality, and that players will be able to add effects depending on the system used. Our gut, suggests a lack of proper funding has caused this, and perhaps still some ire towards Western gamers after the previous game “Summer Vacation” was shot down in flames, and removed from Steam as a result.
