Cyberpunk Games To Play As You Wait For Cyberpunk 2077 (4K)

CD Projekt Red are not clear on when Cyberpunk 2077 will release which means there could be some years of waiting. It’s certainly not going to release this year in 2018. If we’re going to guess, then it’s likely the game will release at some point in 2020 although we could be surprised and it release in late 2019. Either way, it’s a long way off. So, here are some cyberpunk games to be playing as you wait for the release. There are obviously some others that can also fit the bill like games in the Shadowrun series, but we’ve limited our choices to 5 with the majority playable on consoles as well as PC systems.

Here’s the selection from the video for those who prefer text versions of these things.

1. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Aug 2016

Lots of mature themes, definite cyberpunk styling and an obvious choice for this list. Deus Ex Mankind Divided features a heady mixture of stealth or action, you decide how to play. You can customize the lead character (Adam Jensen) as well to suit your stealth or assault play-style and perhaps what’s new here is being able to swap whenever it suits.

2. Dreamfall Chapters – July 2017

Originally released in 2007 this version features some interesting shifts in perspective via three main characters from different worlds. 3D adventuring and plenty of cyberpunk visuals in Propast. Not a traditional action game but well worth the look due to its content.

3. >Observer_ – August 2017

A first person adventure experience set in a cyberpunk society. Features the voice actor Rutger Hauer from the Blade Runner movie. Really intense stuff here and quite psychedelic as you delve into the dark world of mind hacking.

4. Ruiner – September 2017

Fast paced and stylish top down action shooter with some over the top melee action as well. Fiddly controls but high intensity gameplay with customization of the character to boot. Hub areas to explore offering great cyberpunk visuals and larger than life characters.

5. Satellite Reign – August 2015

This is a top down real time strategy game where you take control of agents and conduct all sorts of operations against the backdrop of a cyberpunk city. A spiritual successor to Syndicate Wars and an overlooked game in the cyberpunk universe. Well worth checking out.

Honorable Mention: ShadowRun Daggerfall Directors Cut – September 2014

An older game of the turn based strategy genre but full of the cyberpunk ingredients. There are actually quite a few of these games including a Hong Kong based expansion. Choosing which one to play might be quite hard but certainly a worthy addition to this list despite the age.
