Together BnB Gameplay – Creepy, But Shows Promise

Developer AURORA Games presents a new adventure game for PC gamers available now via Steam Early Access entitled, Together BnB. It’s a bit of an oddity at present and effectively acts as a demo. If you read the description, there are plenty of features planned, but the game is a far-cry from that so be warned. What you do have is a glimpse into the story elements, some interactions with three female characters and one male, and an open-world to explore on foot or by SUV where you can hunt deer. Let’s rewind a moment. The basic premise is your character James, receives a phone call from one of the BnB (that’s Breakfast & Bed cum hotel) residents asking for help. The owner (your older brother) has gone AWOL, leaving the three residents without food and needing assistance. Naturally, your character investigates.

Once the introductions are over, your character is free to do as he pleases. However, following the story introduces the gameplay loop of earning money by hunting deer, then buying food or gifts for the three female residents to improve your standing with them. It’s a pretty basic system in need of refinement, but it’s fairly easy to fathom at this stage. Once you reach a certain standing, then you are able to play games, or dress-up each girl. At present the only game available is a drinking game where you ply the girls with drink and they get drunk. You can choose which drink from a selection of wines. Each girl has a preference, so players have to select the correct drink within a set number of turns. The idea is to get them to pass-out. Sounds pretty nefarious, but the game innocently allows you to pick them up and carry them to their bedroom to sleep it off. How cute. However, this is probably tied to getting them to like you more so you can further your relationship with them. That feature isn’t part of the game yet. Apparently, the game will feature adult content at some point too, so who knows what direction it will take.

What’s fun here is playing with the sandbox and ragdoll physics. You can place the sleeping girl anywhere which is fun in itself. We tried placing one of the girls in the swimming pool (she didn’t drown). We also placed one girl on the bonnet of the SUV and drove off. A bit silly but there really is nothing more to do once you unlocked the option to change their outfits.

Players can go hunting during the day or night (there is a day-and-night cycle and weather effects such as fog and rain). The open-world is quite expansive, but with nothing to do other than visit three shops means all you can do is shoot deer with either a pistol or assault rifle which is rather odd choice of weapon.

Together BnB will obviously be quite decent when all the features are complete with or without the adult content. AURORA Games has shown some cooking elements which looks interesting. If they can develop the girls personalities to be vastly different to each other and have some repercussions should you fail, then there is a game in the making here. All we can say is watch this space. In the mean time, the models look great (their voice acting not so much) and the premise shows promise of greater things. Let’s hope they manage to pull-it-off, although it might take some time given the current speed of any meaningful updates.
