Super Mario 64 HD Super Textures Version Video

Programmer Erik Roystan Ross showed off his modelling skills with the Unity engine and recreated one of the opening levels of the classic Super Mario 64. Since then there have been some changes with the game now showing off some replaced textures compared to the original release which makes the game look completely different, in some ways losing some of Nintendo’s magic as a result – although this is highly subjective. Take a look at our quick play of the level in our Super Mario 64 HD super textures video to see Mario in action and if you feel inclined you can download the game from here.

The new version features:

  • Improved lighting and shadows
  • Dynamic Sky Box/Volumetric clouds
  • Ground clutter wind simulation
  • HDR + Depth of Field + Edge Shading + other
  • Extra fauna (Birds/Butterflies)
  • Hi-Res landscape textures
  • Specular Bump mapping on most textures
  • Trees
  • Distance landscape
