Starlink Battle For Atlas Toys Demo – Are they Worth It?

Take a look at our Starlink Battle For Atlas toys demo video. Here we use the toys in real time to see how they fare. In a nutshell, they are very cool and desirable all the same despite a high price tag. Ubisoft sell the modular toys from £6.99/$6.99 for a pilot and £24.99/$24.99 for a pilot, ship and weapon combination pack. Weapons packs which contain two weapons sell for £9.99. Gamers looking to snag them all are going to need some serious funding. The starter pack costs £69.99 and contains the base game on Xbox One, PS4 or Switch. This includes one pilot, one ship and three weapon attachments. There are four other ships to purchase at £24.99 each, so that’s another £100 right there. An additional four weapons packs at £9.99 each are available costing £40 if you want them all. Lastly there are four extra pilots at £6.99 each making for £28. Adding these all up and we have a grand total of £168 and £240 approximately when you include the starter pack. Younger gamers better get saving then.

The biggest problem with all this is the game is playable with just the starter pack but it’s not enough. The other pieces are very much needed for a complete Starlink experience. The digital version for example, grants access to all pilots, crafts and weapons. Players can also swap between toy mode and digital play with the controller attachment. In theory it means kids can save up and add bits as they go along, but miss out on the game’s full features. It might have been prudent for Ubisoft to double down on the toys and made the core game free-to-play or lower cost to encourage more toy sales. Either way, there is much to do in the game and plenty of time for players to add to their collections over time. Regardless, Starlink is very much an enjoyable game for kids and older gamers.

The toys are very much the icing on the cake, and something cool for younger players to mess around with. Older players might feel the need to ignore them entirely though. So for kids, they are a neat inclusion and should make for pleasant gifts especially around the holiday season. It’s a shame they aren’t lower in price though to encourage more sales considering toys to life are pretty rare these days.
