SOUNDSTAGE VR is Pretty Awesome for Mess Around Beats

Some of you might beg to differ on the definition of “music” but SoundstageVR is a pretty neat VR tool for creating tunes in a Virtual Studio. You basically make your own studio within the boundaries of your room (using the Vive roomscale at present) and then bust out the beats or sounds, whatever style tickles your fancy. It’s obvious this will come to Oculus as well once the Touch controls are out but if you want a tool to just mess around with that’s not overly complex then this is worth keeping an eye on. The developer is open to suggestion and if he can add things like multiplayer and more advanced stuff aside from the obvious DLC sound banks it has a lot of potential and is quite unique for a VR project offering more freedom than games like Rockband VR. We’d like to see some effects plugins, a proper mixer for changing the EQ on sounds and a sequencer that can make complete compositions rather than just looping a few bars. There’s also a number of minor adjustments that need to be made to make it more user friendly, but as of right now it’s a competent piece of software and unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Check out some basic beats and sounds we put together in this video (skip to 7 minute mark for my jamming session) the beginning of the video gives a basic introduction to the software.

You can grab Soundstage for Just £6.99 via the Steam Store.
