We put the RTX 3090 to the test and again, validate Nvidia’s claim that the RTX 3090 GPU is capable of 8K60 fps gaming. Today’s subject is Bandai Namco’s SoulCalibur VI which released 2 years ago. We lower the in-game options to the High preset, select a native 8K resolution and enter the battle. Just a heads-up, recording using Shadowplay gets locked to 30 fps when using the 8K option however, as you can see from the MSI Afterburner overlay on the top left, the game easily hits and maintains 60 fps.
One thing that comes up a lot with regards to these 8K videos, we’re asked what’s the point if you don’t have an 8K display? That’s a valid question. Our answer though is, we’re validating Nvidia’s claim for one, and the other there’s actually a noticeable improvement in clarity when viewing on a 4K display. You will also find the Youtube video suffers from less compression and in our estimation the end result means it appears closer to how native 4K looks on our display. When you view 4K content on Youtube, it suffers from compression and always looks worse than the source material.
