Resident Evil Village VR Gameplay is Incredibly Polished – Preview/Impressions –

We take another look at the awesome Praydog RE Framework mod for PC so we can experience Resident Evil Village VR. We’re blown away by this and wish more games receive a similar treatment. Just a quick note: In the video we talk about the lack of motion controls but that seems to be an issue with recording the screen using the Steam VR, VR view option. The motion controls of the HP Reverb G2 work fine when not using the Steam VR view to record.

What makes the Resident Evil VR mod even more special, is the inclusion of motion control support which puts the game on another level alongside the sheer sense-of-scale VR provides and total immersion into the game world. Lady Dimitrescu for example looks extremely menacing in VR where you get a greater sense of her enormous frame. The game naturally uses a first person perspective making it a perfect fit for VR gaming as you can look at all the fine details and artwork in the game’s castle sections.

We think this type of AAA VR experience should convert many of the naysayers who don’t feel VR adds anything to the table. We loved RE 7 VR on PSVR alongside the Resident Evil 3 VR via the same mod we experienced recently. The in the case of Resident Evil 7 for PSVR, the 2D game subsidized the VR version as they were part of the same retail package. We hope more games in the future get a similar treatment, especially if mods like these can encourage more gamers to invest in VR equipment. We hope SONY take note of this as well and will make sure it too will keep working with its developers to encourage them to work with Playstation VR 2 using AAA or popular franchises.
