Resident Evil Remastered features a new enemy – Bouncing Boobs

Capcom released some exclusive PC footage of their forthcoming survival horror remastering of the classic ‘Resident Evil’ which looks pretty neat running at 60 frames per second and at 1080p. It’s not clear how much of the familiar gameplay will change or whether some neat new elements are thrown in for those who look for them (i.e Easter eggs). However, what’s clear from the footage is something new and somewhat unexpected and that’s the traditional boob jiggle that features in many Japanese developed games. Looking at Capcom’s previous effort in Resident Evil 6, leading lady Helena also has the perfected boob jiggle treatment, so there’s nothing out of the ordinary there when it comes to consistency.

With much noise recently over the objectification of women in video games, this is just another bit of ammo for those against such things, especially as it has been specifically added to the game without much justification. The original Gamecube remake was perfectly playable without the animated breasts so it’s interesting to ponder why the design choice was made to include it here. Unfortunately, there’s some inconsistency with the aforementioned mammaries as they do not seem to be animated during the cut-scenes which is a shame. Take a look at the video and see the effects for yourselves, and be certain that with the game’s forced camera angles, it’s likely to highlight this feature far more than your traditional game where players usually stare at the character’s rear for the duration. Whether you agree or disagree with the depiction of female breasts in this manner, it’s still a somewhat obsessive attention to detail where it’s highly unlikely the settings will offer an option to turn boob jiggle effects off for those concerned about its inclusion. Resident Evil Remastered releases on January 20th 2015 on consoles and PC.
