Oculus has released its retro virtual reality arcade with the arrival of the Oculus Arcade which can be viewed using the Samsung Gear VR and allows users the chance to play classic arcade games from the likes of Sega, Midway and Bandai Namco Games. There’s a fair number of games to try in the virtual sphere although the games are merely showcased on a virutal arcade cabinet rather than fully reworked experiences for VR. Considering these game can easily be played with the need to don a headset we reckon the appeal whilst a novelty will be quite limited. That said, with the release of the $99 consumer model imminent having more experiences available for Samsung Galaxy Note5, S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ users is must. We tried the beta using the pioneering Note 4 which sadly is not compatible with the consumer release Gear VR but still holds its own with the original Innovators Edition which launched last year. Take a look at the video to get an idea of what to expect, although the environments are fully 3D in the Gear VR, something lost in the 2D video here.
