Reports coming in from Game Informer magazine who recently spent some hands on time with Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has noted that the PS4 version of the game looks “slightly” better than its Xbox One counterpart. Apparently this has also been confirmed by series producer Hideo Kojima. It’s unclear at present what the differences are, but the suggestion raises the very real and important issue of Xbox One multi-platform games playing second fiddle to the PS4 versions. It’s clear the PS4 is offering the more powerful tools to developers, and last gen, there were differences between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of games which could mean a number of things. The questions that have to be asked rest within whether developers are behind with using the Xbox One architecture compared to the PS4, or is it simply a hardware issue. Either way, the differences are likely to not be massive and if they are clear to the eye as hinted at here, then it is likely to make little difference to most gamers who won’t be running to two versions side by side for comparison. That said, if you’re a dual system owner, then it’s likely gamers will opt for the superior looking version which would ultimately affect the Xbox One sales.
