We Happy Few Gameplay Preview Video

Compulsion Games released its crazy survival first person adventure game, We Happy Few via Steam Early Access and Xbox One preview program after being showcased from an early Kickstarter campaign way back when. After months of hard work there’s a playable experience here set within an alternate 1960s war torn world where its inhabitants are controlled by a government produced (and administered) drug called Joy. Basically the populace are drugged into believing everything is peachy yet lead character Arthur decides to go against the status quo and not take his “Joy” tablets with some disastrous side effects. Basically the world looks down on “downers” – those who don’t take the Joy drug an so with a bit of stealth, blending in and crafting it’s up to Arthur to complete quests, make new discoveries and ultimately escape the grip of the joy infested world.

We Happy Few is an interesting game with some neat features and visuals but it is still an early access game and there’s much more to do in terms of getting the game to be more user friendly. It’s simply a bit fiddly right now and prone to some odd crashing which is frustrating to say the least. The basics are here though and it is fun to play even if a little confusing at first as to what you’re supposed to be doing. What’s actually pretty neat is the way the game presents a procedural generated environment so that each time you play the layout is slightly different.
