Freeman Star Edge Gameplay (Canned Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi Game)

Hong Kong based developer KK Game Studio has a vision for their action adventure, sci-fi/cyberpunk themed role playing game Freeman Star Edge when it was Steam Greenlit, but unfortunately after a failed Kickstarter campaign last year couldn’t get off the ground despite holding some promising ideas. Their campaign was an all or nothing listing which meant no one lost any money and perhaps this was the catalyst for failure. Had there been some financial investment they perhaps could have pulled the game together to make a tangible product. Either way, what is left now is a shell of a game that’s quite Alpha looking, but also fairly well developed with its ideas. You can land on planets, do some shopping, steal items, customize the character, embark in first person or third person shooting. There is even a comprehensive space flight system where you can engage other craft in space combat. A shame then given how much work was obviously put into the project. The alpha is still available to download and try, so if you’re feeling brave, then take a look. If not, then check out our Freeman Star Edge gameplay video. Maybe we’re hoping the developers have learned from this experience and are working on something new in a similar vein, or better yet, got some funding and are polishing up this game? They did suggest they were not done yet so who knows, either way it’s just one game in a long list of canned projects. A fact of life in video game development.
