Encodya Gameplay 4K – Cyberpunk Themed Point & Click Adventure

Developer, Chaosmonger Studios presents Encodya, a cyberpunk themed point and click adventure game on PC. We tried the demo and can’t wait to play the rest of the game if successfully crowd-funded. Take a look at our Encodya Gameplay 4K video to get a taste of what to expect.

You play as two characters, a young girl cum street urchin called Tina and her trusty robot SAM-53. Interestingly players can swap between the two at will which results in different outcomes when interacting with the environment. For example, if Tina talks to a robot at the bus terminal she doesn’t understand the robot’s language. Switch to Sam and the translated language is comprehensible. It’s small touches like this which add to the game’s charm. Tina and Sam can share inventories and pass items between one another as well. One assumes that Sam will have different skills to Tina, in fact there are two further instances in the demo which highlight this. Tina cannot reach a simple lantern held up high, but Sam can. Tina also cannot reach into a manhole with a makeshift fishing hook, but Sam can. Hopefully the game continues this theme making for an extra layer to the puzzle aspects.

What is very neat so far is the fact each character has a voice and doesn’t rely on players reading tons of text. This is a breath of fresh air and hopefully extends into the full game. So far at least 8 or more NPCs have voices.

Audio aside, probably the biggest draw here are the visuals with fantastic artwork and neat animations. It quite cool having a random punk NPC pass-by during a conversation. The demo hints at a lot of other varied locations as well which is good.

Encodya looks very promising indeed, but so far no word on the Kickstarter campaign aside from some quirky remarks in the demo. Hopefully we’ll have more news on that in due course. In the mean time, sign up for the demo and give it a whirl. If like us you complete it, you’ll likely want more once beaten.
