James Talbot’s Kickstarter campaign for the AuraVisor has been a success having reached its £100,000 target with some three weeks to spare. The first 1000 backers will also get their devices earlier than originally planned in February 2016 which is a neat bonus. What separates the AuraVisor from similar head mounted displays is the fact it’s completely wireless (like the Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard) but does not require an expensive mobile phone to operate as the computer is built in. What’s more the AuraVisor allows for HDMI in which opens up lots of possibilities of playing Xbox One, PS4 and PC games via the headset with no latency due to the direct connection as opposed to streaming. Hand tracking is also currently in development which means come next year the AuraVisor should be a complete VR package offering a lot more than its current rivals.
