CD Projekt Red dropped their rather gorgeous trailer yesterday which showcased a game looking mighty fine running no doubt on a top spec PC. We’ve dissected the direct capture version courtesy of Bandai Namco Games who are publishing The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt in Europe and could only admire in awe the superb attention to detail. There’s a lot to take in with such a fast moving visual tour de force, but also the accompanying blurb suggests the game aside from its looks is going to be pretty awesome as well. It’s one thing presenting impressive visuals if the gameplay is not up to par or rests on the borders of mediocrity. Well, according to what CD Projekt Red has talking about thus far it appears the game will be no slouch where it counts.
It’s perhaps easy to focus on the graphical elements of games before we get to play them, by all means, what else is there to go on, but let’s not forget about the elements which those fine graphics are supposed to compliment. There’s a lot to think about as expected from a game of this magnitude, and with two successful titles in the series under their belts, CD Projekt Red have some big expectations to fulfil. However, judging by the quality of the trailer and what’s been said already, the game looks set to be one of those projects that delivers on all its promises. The action RPG genre has had quite a number of entries ranging from classics such as Skyrim to those that are less impacting such as the most recent Bound By Flame. The genre is highly popular and getting elements of deep role playing coupled with arcade action is certainly two distinct play styles that can co-exist well with each other with staggering results without swathes of complexity. The Witcher 3 looks set to provide the necessary fix for gamers who enjoy these sprawling adventures, and with a credible amount of lore levelled at the game, there’s enough depth to the story telling that should keep gamers and critics alike engrossed at every step of the way. If anyone can provided a game that not only offers stunning visuals but an impressive feature set of gameplay ideas as well, then The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is looking like a possible candidate.
Simply put, February 24th 2015 can’t come soon enough for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
