SoulCalibur Lost Swords error 1098 means users can’t play

Bandai Namco Games’ SoulCalibur Lost Swords is available now to download via the PSN as a free to play game focused on single player content, however, many gamers across the globe are experiencing connection issues with the game’s servers making the game unplayable. Upon booting up  and after the intro sequence, players are met with an error 1098 code and returned back to the title screen.

Bandai Namco Games has responded to this and suggest they are looking into the issue for a fix as soon as possible. In the mean time, gamers can admire the title and ponder how they are going to play!

UPDATE:

Here’s an official message from Bandai Namco Games regarding the issue:

Hello North & South American SoulCalibur Fans,
BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. would like to express our appreciation for the excitement and passion that our SoulCalibur fans have displayed for SoulCalibur: Lost Swords. There is currently a technical issue that has delayed the launch of the game and we have been working through this issue all through last night and today to expedite the launch of SoulCalibur: Lost Swords.
We have discovered that the issue requires a resolution across multiple parties and therefore our efforts to remedy the issue is taking longer than anticipated. Currently we are working feverishly with a key partner to implement a solution in the shortest amount of time possible.
We know that this title has been highly anticipated by all of you and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work to get SoulCalibur: Lost Swords up and running as soon as possible. Thank you!
BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc.

UPDATE 2:

The game now opens for European gamers, but for the time being only the tutorial mission is really playable as the game constantly gives a new 2005 error code. It’s frustrating and not worth bothering with until it’s properly working as the load times are excruciatingly long. In the mean time take a look at the opening moments of the tutorial in this video…
