Samsung Gear VR with Gamepad Sells out within hours in the UK

The Samsung Gear VR head mounted display unit for the Samsung Note 4 phablet is now available for purchase in the UK according to the official store page opening up a world of virtual reality for enthusiasts for £199. The Gear VR launched in the US in December last year which meant those with a greater passion will have imported through various retailers shipping to the UK. The Gear VR also launched in other European territories this month and sold out pretty fast which has been mirrored here in the UK as the official store page now reads “Out of Stock” for the version which comes with an official gamepad so if you’re keen to get involved on the action you’ll have to wait until supplies are replenished or go for the standard version at £169. That said, other Bluetooth enabled controllers can work with the Gear VR such as Amazon TV’s controller so it’s not the end of the world. There’s currently no official store front within the Gear VR itself where users can pay for content as of yet which leaves users being able to sample demo games and VR experiences only. Owners of the device can view their own movies and images though which is rather good. Outside of the official Samsung store page, it’s likely the units with the gamepad will be available for inflated prices on eBay and such like.
