Primordian VR Gameplay – Awesome VR Action Game

Indie developer Stonepunk Studios has released its VR action game Primordian VR via Steam Early Access. We played an early build of this last year when they had just released RollerGirls. Since then it has come a long way and is a much more fleshed-out experience. Aside from some highly impressive audio/visual elements, the game features compelling swordplay/gunplay as you delve deeper into the campaign. At a first glance you might be under the impression that players can simply wave swords in the enemies faces for success, but there is much more to it than that as you can see in our 50 minutes Primordian VR gameplay video.

Players who block or parry incoming attacks are granted a bullet time moment where parts of the enemy glows red. This means the part (or head) can be swiped off with a well aimed strike. Later on in the video you can see where masks are destroyed followed-up by swift headshots with a manic looking pistol weapon. There is plenty of gore here as limbs are sliced and heads impaled making it a visceral experience in VR.

There is still much to do though before the game can hit full release but already the developers have added smooth turning controls and are tweaking the gameplay based on feedback from early adopters. We’d like to see a little more instruction at the start of the game so that there is a bit more context and information for new players rather than being thrown in at the deep end. That said, in its current form it really is an excellent game so far with much more potential which we’re looking forwards to.
