Prey 4K Demo PS4 Pro – Bioshock in Space?

Bethesda released its Prey demo for PS4 and Xbox One gamers which offers an hour of getting to grips with the neat gameplay. However, here’s a video which showcases Prey 4k running on the PS4 Pro being mindful this is using the PS4 Pro upscaling and is not native 4K. One thing for sure, once you dive in the gameplay does feel similar to Bioshock which is certainly a compliment to Arkane Studios who also released Dishonored 2 last year. Prey release on May 5th 2017 and should be well on your radar, Bioshock fan or otherwise.

The demo can hardly be PS4Pro optimized. It looks like a 1080p game with jaggies.

    • suli559

Well, just imagine what the PC version is gonna be like then, seeing as there’s no PC demo i already know there’s no way ill pick this up day one.

      • DEVILTAZ35 .

Surprisingly they cared enough to make the PC version pretty decent compared to the awful console versions afterall.

    • kreator

Nope, it’s the PS4 Pro in all it’s glorious fake 4K!

    • DEVILTAZ35 .

It is, this is completely false as the demo does not support PS4 Pro features at all and is just the same as regular PS4. It will only upscale to 4k if you use an amp or a tv to do so.

This game apparently may have a pro update for launch but it is just as likely it will be added in some time in the future with a patch.

it is not on the list of PS4 pro enhanced titles to be released so it’s doubtful it will be ready at launch this week.

I am sick of people posting videos and lying about things such as 4k demo etc.

        Quote Sony FAQs –

Q: If I’m using PS4 Pro on a 4K TV, and I’m playing a PS4 game without PS4 Pro features. Will it still output in 4K?

Yes, older PS4 games without dedicated PS4 Pro features will output at 4K when played on PS4 Pro and a supported 4K TV using a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable. You will not, however, see any visual benefits without support for PS4 Pro features.

The video captured this process. No one is saying it’s enhanced native 4K with PS4 Pro additional features. You also have to bear in mind that due to Youtube compression there’s a better quality when content is uploaded in 4K compared to 1080p especially noticable on larger screens when viewing full screen.

        • DEVILTAZ35 .

Sorry but it is misleading stating it is a 4k demo when it is not. It is the same demo as a regular ps4 and it looks rather terrible on a pro on a 4k screen.

  • Hvd

get it right its not native 4k its upscaled 4k.the ps4 pro cant do native 4k.

    • DEVILTAZ35 .

Odd as Skyrim is actually native 4k on the Pro and it looks beautiful. Some games are native it just depends on the engine and complexity of the games. Even Eurogamer have been highly impressed with some of the checkerboard rendering anyway such as Ratchet and Clank which looks like native 4k not to mention Horizon Zero Dawn which has been regarded as one of the best looking games ever released.

It’s hard to not be impressed with what Naughty Dog manage on the Pro too. It is disappointing there is no native pro support for Prey though but look at the recommended specs for the PC version . Just a 970 in 2017. That is really poor so it’s obvious good graphics are not a consideration for this game on any platform.

skyrim is a 6 year old game my 10 year old pc can run super mario 64 at 8k so i have a 8k pc…derp…derp…

its an old game retard.it cant and never will run any current AAA title in 4k so there for its not a 4k console.

        • DEVILTAZ35 .

It’s not the same version of the game.. Maybe go and have a look at the enhancements and then come back as you obviously struggle with the word’ ”úpgraded”. It is also upgraded for PC as well and yes it’s not at the level of some of the mods but it is far better than vanilla Skyrim. However seeing you are such a rude person i doubt you will even use logic or reasoning and just prefer to try and insult people so good day.

          • Hvd

i can play my nes games on my 10 year old pc in 10k.have a good day

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Well just add not understanding resolution to the list as well then shall we lol

          • Hvd

            resolution doesnt equal graphics

            #facts.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Of course it does if it is a higher native resolution , if it is upscaled then it doesn’t directly however internally that resolution affects the quality of the output meaning you are going to see clearer detail in the GRAPHICS.

          • Hvd

nope higher native resolution just makes things look sharper.thats not graphics.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

You are just nitpicking for the sake of it lol . I said you see clearer detail because of the higher resolution. Check it out on sites such as Digital Foundry as they explain in decent amounts of detail that resolution affects graphics quality. You can’t seperate resolution from graphics as they are connected. You could put all the detail in the world into the graphics but if you set the maximum resolution to 640×480 it is going to looks shit house on a 4k tv and you know it. same as 1080p native does not look great on a 4k display . Some displays can also support 1440p then upscale it which does look better than 1080p . However after testing both PS4 and the Pro as i have both there is zero difference between Prey on both consoles so there is zero pro support and they are just a bunch of liars stating it on the box.

In any case my annoyance is not with you it is with yet another dev who can’t lie straight in bed and just tries to deceive the public to get money.

          • Hvd

like i keep saying resolution makes things look sharper better but thats not graphics its not that hard to see.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Well then perhaps the best way to put it is they compliment each other then lol . In any case Arkhane are hopeless when it comes to graphics and resolution on console lol.

          • Hvd

they do look at it like this a game at 720p graphically looks the same at 1080p and 4k.resolution gives you a sharper and wider image.

the only reason im getting in to a bit with you is because most people think 4k is graphics which shows you they arnt to bright.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Ok fair enough i didn’t mean to get snarky either :). Having a bad week lol

          • Hvd

no worries man we are all gamers with a different point of view.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

All good , enjoy your weekend , It’s friday here than goodness.
I did enjoy a game on PC a while back that was Unity 5 i think. Dreamfall Chapters. That was cool.

          • Hvd

i stopped pc gaming years ago when it became 90% about esports…no thx.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Yeah overall console has the best games, it will probably remain that way due to Sony and Nintendo Exclusives. There are still some really decent PC games out there though. If Star Citizen ever sees the light of day it could be cool other than it’s tech demos.

          • Hvd

Star Citizen is in forever alpha like day z,h1z1 as long as morons keep buying skins no point to release it.

          • DEVILTAZ35 .

Still a shame though as i would like to see something like Star Citizen with HDR on the Scorpio. It needs a compelling reason to purchase it so something to wow people like the original Halo did is really what it needs.

  • kreator

    The Pro is garbage..

  • LarZen

The article was on N4G. Why would I not?

  • DEVILTAZ35 .

It is confirmed now as enhanced for PS4 pro according to the back of the box anyway.
