The Evil Within’s most Obvious Resident Evil Easter Egg

With a game title that simply echoes the same sentiment as previous works in his back catalogue, Shinji Mikami makes no bones about his heritage with an abundance of features that are almost verbatim with past endeavours in The Evil Within. Aside from the the turning zombie scene early on, valve handles and beastly puzzles, there’s an even bigger Easter egg – if you can call it that – which spans an entire 30 minutes of gaming. Over half way through this most recent work from the famed Resident Evil creator, Mikami seemingly goes the whole hog and presents a very familiar mansion setting where even the lead character mutters that he recognises the location somehow. Amidst the air of mystery there’s lots to take in with an unusual twist involving (from the left-field) DIY brain surgery of all things. Check out the video which shows off this revisit to past glories in full screen glory. The Evil Within is out now on last and current gen consoles, PC and feels like a spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4 in many ways.
