400,000 Wii Us sold last week

Nintendo has gone public and announced that it has sold more than 400,000 Wii U hardware units over the last week, and since launching the games console in North America on November 18th. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that sales numbers were capped by the number of units they were able to ship out to stores.

“Wii U is essentially sold out of retail and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock,” Fils-Aime said. “Retailers are also doing their best to get the product to store shelves. But as soon as product hits retail, they’re selling out immediately.”

With the Wii U launching in Europe on November 30th, will the same situation be mirrored here as well?
